Nicaragua...4 days and counting!

Well I knew I wouldn't be great at keeping up with this blog, but I honestly didn't think it would be THIS bad.

I have been just a tad bit busy the past 10 weeks with an Accounting internship in Dallas and Austin. Since December, I have bounced back and forth between Amarillo, Dallas, Austin, and Bryan. I'm about ready for my nomad days to be over.

There are 3 days left and then I am officially a chaco-wearing, hat wearing, bike riding, turkey wrap-eating, coffee shop studying college student again!!! Yay!

But before that happens, there is this thing called Spring Break which I am eagerly anticipating. I will be going to Nicaragua for the week to share the Good News of Jesus to those who don't know Him!

(In case you don't know the Good News- it is that you and I are not ok. We have offended a perfect, holy God. The wages of sin is death. Thats right... we earned ourselves a nonrefundable ticket to a real place called hell. BUT in His relentlessly pursuing love, He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for your sins and mine so that through him we could be saved! And this is ALL by grace...not one single act of kindess or goodness or obedience could get us one step closer to salvation...it ALL rides entirely upon Jesus exchanging His righteousness for our sin. It is beautiful. It is freeing. It is the GOOD news.)

I am so thankful to all those who have committed to being prayer warriors for this trip, and would love to have anyone else who is willing to join in the intercession!!

Here are some things you can pray for:

For the People of Nicaragua:
1. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2- Pray that the message of the Lord would spread and be honored.
2. Ezek 11:19-20- Pray that God would give them an undivied heart and put a new spirit in them, remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh that they may know Him!
3. 2 Cor. 8:9- "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."- Pray that the spiritually poor would become rich in Christ!

For my team and myself:
1. Pray that we would be broken, shaken, changed for His name's sake

2. Philippians 2:5-8- Pray that we would have the same attitude as Jesus who did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing- That we would die to ourselves, our rights, our comforts just like Jesus did

3. Pray for physical health and protection- but if we do get sick (God doesn't promise we won't have to suffer for Him), we would see Him as worthy of getting sick for- contentment in ALL things. Also, that God would be glorified as a result of any sufferings we encounter.

4. Philippians 1:27- Pray for team unity- that we would stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel.

5. Pray for our leaders- Howard Tipton and Mark Henry

Pray for the missionaries and believers in Nicaragua:
1. Pray that they would be greatly encouraged and refreshed

2. Pray Ephesians 1:17-19 over them

3. Pray Ephesians 3:16-21 over them

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support. You are just as much a part of this mission trip as any of us who are going. I cannot wait to see what God is going to do and look forward to sharing it all with you!

Hello, everyone!

As you can tell, I am officially in the blog world. I resisted this world for a long time...enjoying others' blogs from a distance but not wanting to have one of my own. For some reason, lately I have had a persistent desire to start my very own blog. So here it is.

Those who know me well know that I am a huge fan of rap music. Particularly that of Lecrae. I recently had to fill out a questionaire asking what I would do if I could have any job in the world. Any guesses? Thats right...professional rapper. Don't laugh. You never know...one day white female rappers might be cool. :)

The title of this blog- 'Don't want to waste my life' is from Lecrae's latest album, Rebel. This is my favorite Lecrae song. The words are rich in theology and the truths conveyed by his lyrics are convicting to the core....just read this last verse of the song:

"Your money, your singleness, marriage, talent ,and time..they were loaned to you to show the world that Christ is Divine- that's why it's Christ in my rhymes That's why it's Christ all the time..my whole world is built around him He's the life in my lines. I refused to waste my life; he's too true ta chase that ice. Heres my gifts and time cause I'm constantly trying to be used to praise the Christ. If he's truly raised to life then this news should change your life- and by his grace you can put your faith in the place that rules your days and nights."

I love these lines, especially that first one...everything we have has been given to us to show the world that Jesus is everything! I guess that even applies to this blog. It has been loaned to me as yet another means of making much of a my Lord and Savior. I pray it is used to make much of Him, not me.

So, I need to go ahead and confess something... I am the world's most awkward closer. I never know how to end emails, texts, blog comments, birthday cards, or voicemails. I'm sure this blog will be no different. Phew! Its good to have that off my chest.

Big gulps, huh? Welp...see ya later! ;)
